Work-Life Balance
Work? Life? Balance? Can it be done? According to a qualitative study on ATs at DI institutions, they found that long work hours, lack of control over work schedules, and unbalanced athlete-to-AT ratios can facilitate conflicts. HOWEVER, organizational and personal strategies can be helpful in creating a balanced lifestyle. To promote work-life balance, administrators should encourage teamwork and ATs should set boundaries and priorities. The study also found that a strong support system at home AND at work is the critical link that allows athletic trainers to balance their professional and personal lives.
